Home Based Recycling & Salvage Business

Check out Mike's Recycling and Salvage Tips for latest writings about home-based recycling and salvage businesses.

Stimulus, bailouts and economic recovery plans trickling-down to you too slow, not at all? Create your own home based recycling business based stimulus plan with the free Gold from Electronic, Telecommunication & Computer Scrap online e-book.

Update 09/02/09: The first three installments of the free how-to (or more accurately - how I did it) home-based recycling business manual, "Gold from Electronic, Telecommunication & Computer Scrap" are online for you. Click here to read it now.

Update 06/20/2009: I've decided to give away the home based recycling manual and all the knowledge that I've gained during my years in the recycling and salvage business. The economy is really hard right now for many of us. I don't want to burden you with yet another expense. I want to make it as easy as possible for you to learn to be successful at bootstrapping your own economic recovery.

Over the next days and weeks I'll be adding new pages from the draft that I have been working on and reorganizing this website. There will be both news, resources, how-to articles and more related to recycling and salvage. I'll first be covering my experience in the gold recovery and refining, electronics, computer and high tech fields and then get into other things including deconstruction and building material salvage and reuse, salvage for alternative energy, non-ferrous metal recycling and more.

BTW the meaning I give to these words is as follows. By recycling I mean to take previously produced items and break them down as raw materials for new production - glass for bottles, cans for all sorts of aluminum things, gold for its many uses, etc. By salvage I mean to recover previously produced items and put them back into service. Reused lumber, plumbing, agricultural supplies, auto parts, items for alternative energy systems, etc. all fit into this category.

It's still very worthwhile to read the "blurb" about the manual. Many have told me that these existing pages have inspired them to jump into the business and they've done quite well. Click here to read it now.

Michael Meuser bootstrapped his way into the salvage and recycling business in the early 1980s. He began with building deconstruction and scrap metals and then moved into electronics, computer and telecommunications scrap where he learned to recover gold and other precious metal. Michael tells his story, provides resources and offers his advice at his website, RecyclingSecrets.com, and his blog, Recycling Secrets Blog. Also, you can follow Michael on Twitter.
